Celebrate 2016 Weekend Kicks Off with HOF Inductions & Letter Jacket Ceremony
MSU inducted eight new members into the Hall of Fame on Thursday.
Eric Allen (football/track & field), Don Behm (wrestling), Trevor Harris (soccer), Steve Juday (football/baseball), Anne Pewe Khademian (cross country/track & field), Ken Popejoy (cross country/track & field), Patti Raduenz (softball) and Mike Sadler (football) were formally inducted into the MSU Athletics Hall of Fame, while over 140 current MSU student-athletes received their varsity letter jackets from Athletics Director Mark Hollis and their respective coaches.
After Hollis and MSU President Dr. Lou Anna K. Simon formally welcomed the capacity crowd at Wharton Center's Pasant Theater, each Hall of Famer was introduced. One-by-one, each new inductee or their family representative took the stage to address the audience following a video of their career accomplishments. Each inductee was presented with a commemorative plaque as well as Hall of Fame letter jacket.
The 2016 Hall of Fame Inductees will be recognized at halftime of Saturday's football game vs. Wisconsin.
Following the induction of each new Hall of Fame member, Hollis and the respective coaching staffs presented the first-time student-athlete letterwinners from 2015-16 with their new jackets.
Also recognized during Thursday's event were the 2016 Varsity S Club award winners and the 2016 Varsity S Class of 2016 Honorary Members. This year's winners included: Cheryl Gilliam (Nell Jackson Outstanding Alumna Award), Kaleb Thornhill (Cheryl M. Gilliam Young Alumni Award), Todd Duckett (Henry C. Bullough Varsity `S' Service Award), Gus Ganakas (Eldon VanSpybrook Retired Coaches Award), Kevin B. Jackson (Joey Spano Fellowship Award), Jerry Sutton (Jack Breslin Life Achievement Award) and Courtney Hawkins (Clarence "Biggie" Munn Extra Effort Award). Eric Thomas, Jack Nelson, Marilyn Bria and Tom Shepard were recognized as Honorary Members.
