Jennifer Smith, who is in her 16th year as the compliance director at Michigan State, was promoted to Senior Associate Athletic Director in August 2015.
Smith, who also reports to the Office of the General Counsel, leads the streamlining of administrative activities. She plays a prominent role in the scholarship allocation for student-athletes, including housing, board, books, cost of attendance and student-athlete opportunity fund distribution.
Promoted to Associate Athletic Director for Compliance in 2002, Smith served as the compliance coordinator from 1999-2001 and also spent three years as the assistant compliance coordinator.
Smith came to Michigan State from Louisville in December of 1997, where she was a compliance assistant with the Cardinals from 1995-97 and served as interim compliance coordinator in the fall of '97.
A native of Hartford, Wisconsin, Smith earned her bachelor's degrees in political science and international relations from the University of Wisconsin in 1992 and a master's degree in sports administration from Louisville in 1995.
