EAST LANSING, Mich. - For 100 years, Michigan State basketball has been one of the nation's most-respected programs. In celebration of Michigan State's 100th season of college basketball, the MSU Athletics Department and the Laminating Company of Indianapolis are offering alumni and Spartan fans the chance to own a piece of MSU's historic Jenison Field House.
Authentic pieces of the basketball court, in use from 1979-89, have been mounted on plaques of varying sizes:
- A 6"x8" imported flaked marble plaque displays a 5" piece of floor.
- A 12"x15" solid walnut board showcases MSU's 14 basketball All-Americans and displays a 7 ½" piece of court.
- A 19"x12" laminated plaque features photos from the first tip-off in Jenison Field House and the last shot takes there in 19products with a 15" piece of the floor.
- A 23"x12" plaque displays photos of every coach in a century of Spartan basketball plus a 20" piece of Jenison court that has been personally autographed by coaches Gus Ganakas, Jud Heathcote and Tom Izzo.
Larger pieces of the floor, including the center circle, are available. Proceeds from the sale of the court will benefit the MSU Athletics Department.
