Dantonio on Jefferson: "We recruited La'Darius as an athlete, with the idea that he would play running back when he first got here to Michigan State. He really has the ability to play multiple positions. He played quarterback at Muskegon as a senior and helped lead his team to a state title, and he also played some quarterback as a junior and also linebacker as a junior. La'Darius has displayed excellent leadership skills and understands concepts. When he ran the ball at Muskegon, I just kept looking at him and said, 'that guy could be a great tailback because he has excellent running back skills.' He has great feet in the hole, impressive change of direction and runs with power. He can do a multitude of things with the ball in his hands: run, throw and catch."
