Men's Swimming Heads to Fort Lauderdale Relays
Upcoming Events: Saturday-Sunday, Dec. 20-21, at the Ft. Lauderdale Relays
U. S. Open Info: Select members of the Michigan State men's swimming and diving team competed in Indianapolis, Ind. last weekend at the United States Open. The meet was the final U. S.-sanctioned swimming event of the year. Top swimmers from around the world were in attendance including members of the United States national and junior national squads.
Fabulous Frosh: On the first day of competition, Spartan newcomer Mike Tingley turned heads by reaching the finals of the 200 backstroke. He finished 19th with a time of 2:08.19. Tingley also posted a time of 1:00.36 in the 100 backstroke, missing the finals by just one place. In the 200 freestyle preliminary, another Spartan rookie, Mike Mulshine finished 36th out of 85 swimmers with a time of 1:57.23.
Next Action: The Spartans will travel to Florida for the Ft. Lauderdale Relays, Dec. 20-21.
