A two-year letterwinner and two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection...competed in the 50, 100 and 200 free and the 100 backstroke at the 1999 Big Ten Championships...swam in the 1998 Big Ten Championships in the 50 and 100 free, the 100 back and the 200 free relay...competed in the 50 and 100 freestyles and the 100 backstroke at the `97 Big Ten’s. High School: Did not begin competing in swimming until his senior year…swam leg on medley relay team that earned All-America honors (1:36.36)…finished 8th in the 50 free as a senior…also lettered in baseball, earning all-league honors as a catcher. Personal: Born Nov. 15, 1977, he is the son of Piere and Judy Asti… father competed in track and mother swam at Furman…brother, Lance is a sophomore swimmer at Tennessee…a human biology major. |
