Three-year letterwinner...earned MSU's Most Valuable Athlete award...finished fourth in the 200 freestyle at the 2000 Big Ten Championhips...qualified for 2000 U.S. Olympic Trials in the 200 free, finishing 10th at the U.S. summer nationals...ranked 55th in the world in the 200 free and 100th in the 400 free by swim news online...MSU Most Valuable Athlete for the second consecutive year...finished third in the 200 free (1:37.57) and ninth in the 500 free (4:25.86) at the 1999 Big Ten Championships... both Big Ten performances were lifetime bests...also competed in the 100 free, the 400 and 800 free relays and the 400 medley relay at the `99 Big Ten’s...the first alternate for the 1998 World University Games team...made an immediate impact and earned his first letter as a freshman...claimed fifth place in the 200 free at the ’98 Big Ten’s...finished 13th in the 500 free at Big Ten’s...also scored in the 1,650 free at Big Ten’s (14th place)...also swam in the 400 and 800 free relays at the ’98 Big Ten’s.
High School: Four-year letterwinner at Portage Central High…three-time all-conference selection…earned all-county honors twice and was an all-state selection as a senior…finished fifth in the 100 freestyle (47.6) and eighth in the 50 free (21.9) at the state championships as a senior…competed for the Portage Aquatic Club…finished fifth in 200 freestyle and 13th in the 100 free at Junior Nationals.
Personal: Born April 11,1979, he is the son of Patrick and Mary Anne Munley…brother, Tom, was an MSU All-American swimmer from 1992-96…a packaging major.
