Tim Loeffler joined the Spartan staff as an assistant coach in July 2009. In addition to serving as recruiting coordinator, Loeffler's primary role with the Spartans is working with the middle distance and distance freestyle swimmers.
Loeffler comes to MSU from the University of Minnesota where he was a two-time letterwinner and as well as a student assistant coach from 2007-09. While serving as a student assistant under Minnesota head coach Dennis Dale, Loeffler worked with numerous Big Ten and NCAA Championship scorers.
From 2004-07 Loeffler competed for the Gophers and was a member of their 2005 Big Ten Championship team. He holds three top-20 times in Minnesota history in the 1,000 and 1,650 freestyle as well as the 200 butterfly.
The Elmhurst, Ill., native attended Fenwick High School and received his degree from the University of Minnesota in strategic communications.
