Spartans Have Record-Setting Day One At Big Tens Swim/Dive Championships

Jarzen, 200 medley relay set school records on the first day of competition.

Sophomore Season: Academic All-Big Ten ... Made the team's All-Time Top-10 list in the 100 backstroke with a time of 50.02 ... Swam a season-best in the 50 freestyle (20.64) and the 100 freestyle (45.43) at the Big Ten Championship meet ... Part of the 200 freestyle relay that placed ninth at the Big Ten Championships with a time of (1:20.75) ... Recorded the team's top time in the 50 backstroke with a time of 22.71 and was a part of the 200 medley relay that swam at the Big Ten Championship.

Freshman Season: Swam a season-best in the 50 freestyle (21.05) and the 100 backstroke (50.99) at the Big Ten Championship meet ... Recorded a season-best time in the 100 freestyle with a time of 46.83 at the Eastern Michigan Invitational.

High School: All-State swimmer in the 50 and 100 freestyle...Placed 10th in the 50 freestyle his junior year...Finished fourth in the 50 freestyle and fifth in the 100 freestyle his senior year...Elected team captain his senior year...Four-time varsity letter winner at Grand Haven High School.

Personal: Born November 25, 1991 ... Son of Robert and Nancy Schulze ... Majoring in nursing.
