Tingley Makes Backstroke Final at U.S. Open

EAST LANSING, Mich. - In the first day of competition at the 1997 United States Open in Indianapolis, Ind., Michigan State freshman Mike Tingley competed in the finals of the 200-meter backstroke and finished 19th with a time of 2:08.19.

Select members of the Spartan men's and women's swimming and diving teams are competing in the final U.S.-sanctioned swimming event of the year. Competition will conclude on Saturday, Dec. 6.
