Men's Swimming and Diving Team Drops a Close Contest to Penn State
EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's swimming and diving team lost their second dual meet and first home contest of the seasonwith a 135-104 defeat at the hands of Penn State. The Nittany Lions won eight of the 13 events while the Spartans racked up the points in the other four places. The loss moves the Spartans to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the Big Ten.
Michigan State was lead by junior captain John Bruesch, who won the 200-breastroke with a time of 2:06.41 and he was a member of the victorios 400 medley relay team. The team of freshman Mike Tingley, junior Mike Mulshine, sophomore Chad Ganden, and Bruesch took the race with a time of 3:24.83. Junior Dan Bacheler also had a strong for the Spartans. He won the 500-freestyle in 4:38.15, while freshman John Munley was second to Bacheler with a time of 4:45.48.
The Michigan State men's swimming and diving team will be involved in their next home competition on Tueday, January 20, at 6 p.m., when it takes on the University of toledo.
