EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Spartans will begin the 2013 spring season as the men take on Purdue and the women face Toledo on Friday, Jan. 11 at 6 p.m. in IM West. The women will continue competition as they host Purdue on Saturday, Jan. 12, at 2 p.m. also held at IM West.

It has been over a month since MSU faced competition. Although the women did not have a team score, the Michigan State men made four NCAA provisional times and finished in fourth place overall with 168 points at the U.S. Winter Nationals in Austin, Texas on Nov. 30-Dec. 1, 2012.

During the holiday break, the Spartans held their annual training trip. They traveled to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., to train from Dec. 16-23.

Last year, Michigan State fell to the Boilermakers in a co-ed dual held at Purdue with the men falling 180.5-107.5 and the women coming up short with a score of 176-124.

The University of Toledo women, the  2011-12 MAC Champions, are coming off of a dual-meet loss to Eastern Michigan, but won their Akron Zippy Invitational with 21 top-five finishes over the weekend, while earning a grand total of 1,697 points.

Next up, MSU will travel to Bowling Green to take on the Falcons and Buffalo on Saturday, Jan. 19.
