Swimming & Diving Returns To Action At Purdue

Jan. 10, 2018

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan State swimming and diving team will return to action for the first time in 2018 to compete at Purdue on Friday, Jan. 12 at 5 p.m. ET. The meet will take place in West Lafayette, Indiana in the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center pool.
“I have a ton of respect for Coach Ross and Coach Klinge in how they run their programs. They have really good teams,” head coach Matt Gianiodis said. “We’re looking forward to the trip and racing again, it has been a while for us. This is really the first step in what is now a six week season.”
The Spartans spent the past month training in both East Lansing and Delray Beach, Florida, for their annual training trip. The last date of competition was in November at the Northwestern TYR Invitational. Both the men’s and women’s teams came home with second place finishes and several new school and personal records.
Iana Wolff broke the 100 fly varsity record with a time of 54.98.
Guy Moskovich entered the school’s all-time top ten in the 500 free and the mile with his first place finishes of 4:24.98 and 15:16.68, respectively.
Senior Racheal Bukowski won the 100 free, making it her fifth consecutive win in the event.
The Spartans also sent 10 individuals to USA Winter Nationals in December, held in Columbus, Ohio. Ellie Roche broke the 200 breaststroke varsity record with a 2:13.65, while Ana Sortland set a new 100 breast varsity record - a mark she initially set at the Northwestern Invitational with a 1:00.72.
Live stats from Friday's meet can be found here, and results will be available at following the conclusion of the contest.
