I want to thank the Zielinski family for their input and their support of the newest team award. It will pay tribute to one of the greatest swimmers in the history of our program, Kevin Zielinski (1988-93). His first time at Summer Nationals in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., he was named Rookie of the Meet for an outstanding performance. He went to the Olympic Trials (Indianapolis-Barcelona Trials) for the breaststroke. Kevin died last year and his former teammates suggested we honor him with an annual award at our team banquet.
This year we will give the Kevin Zielinski Heart Award. The award will go to a senior who has demonstrated excellence both academically and athletically. We are honored to do this and it is our hope that this becomes another strong tradition in our program.
Swimming and Diving awards:
Jack Seibold Leadership Award
Jennifer Parks Leadership Award
Men's and Women's Swimmer of the Year
Men's and Women's Diver of the Year
John Narcy Most Improved Award

Our banquet is on Sunday, April 22 at 12 p.m. All our alumni and supporters are invited to attend. Questions regarding the banquet can go directly to Kathleen Milloy at firstname.lastname@example.org
I want to congratulate Ricky Forest, future Spartan, who won a championship in the 500 freestyle this past weekend at the 2007 MHSAA state meet. Ricky is going to help our program quite a bit.
We started spring/summer training this week, with an eye on getting better. Coming off the disappointing short-course season, our team's focus this summer is on the long-course season.
I wanted to also thank you all for your support of our program following two very disappointing Big Ten Meets. Our young people will get much better and we will continue to work hard to improve.
Until next time,
