At the end of every season, no matter how successful or unsuccessful, every program does an evaluation of the previous year. In our evaluation, one of the areas of need we identified was leadership. Of course, this is not to say we didn't have good leaders last year. In fact, our lack of leadership was a result of me not putting those leaders into a position to lead.
To rectify the problem, I have decided that our program needed captains for the 2007-08 year. For the first time in my head coaching career I will be working with captains. This past Saturday we announced the captains for the 2007-08 season. They are:
All six understand the responsibility associated with being a captain. They all are ready for the season and have begun to do things in the way of organizing next year.
If you have the time, please say a little prayer for Coach Dewey Newsome of Grand Valley State. Coach Newsome suffered a stroke this past Sunday and he is in the hospital in Grand Rapids. Dewey is a good coach and a good person, your thoughts are appreciated.
Once again, I want to thank all of you who have been very supportive this past month.
Until next time,
