EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Head swimming and diving coach Matt Gianiodis has announced the schedule for the 2017-18 season.

"I’m looking forward to another really challenging schedule starting right away with Iowa. We have some great schools to compete with this year and as usual we hope to be at our best in February when the Big Ten Championships roll around," Gianiodis said.

Michigan State will travel to Iowa on Thursday, Oct. 5 for their first meet of the year. The following day the women will compete in a tri-meet against Iowa and Northern Iowa.

A week later, the Spartans will travel to South Bend, Ind. for a tri-meet with Notre Dame and Texas A&M on Friday, Oct. 13.

On Friday, Oct. 20, the Spartans will host Illinois at home for their first home meet. The following morning the annual Alumni meet will start at 9 a.m.

The Spartans will be back on the road again the weekend of Oct. 27-28. MSU will travel to Pittsburgh to compete against Pittsburgh, Miami (FL) and James Madison University (women only), on Friday Oct. 27. Saturday Oct. 28 the Spartans will travel to Gambier, Ohio to face Division III power and 34-time national champion Kenyon College.

The month of November consists of two home meets. The women will host Bowling Green on Friday, Nov. 10 and both the women and men will compete against Miami (OH) on Saturday, Nov. 11.

Both the men’s and women’s teams will compete in the Northwestern Invite in November as well. USA Winter Nationals are Nov. 29-Dec. 2 in Columbus, Ohio.

The Spartans will return to action for an away conference meet at Purdue on Jan. 13 and a home non-conference meet against Oakland on Jan. 20. Their final regular season competition is Feb. 2 at rival University of Michigan.

The Women's Big Ten Championships will take place on Feb. 14-17 in Columbus, Ohio, while the Men's Big Ten Championships will be held in Minneapolis, Minn. Feb. 21-24.

MSU will compete at the NCAA Diving Zones from March 8-10 in Columbus, Ohio.

The 2018 NCAA Women's Championships are set for March 14-17 in Columbus, Ohio while the NCAA Men's Championships will be the following weekend, March 21-24 in Minneapolis, Minn.
