EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State swimming and diving teams will split competition this week as the women travel to Illinois on Friday, Oct. 26 and the men stay home to host Notre Dame on Saturday, Oct. 27. This will be the first road meet of the season for the women as they seek their first win against Illinois since 2007.

The women's meet against the Fighting Illini is slated to begin at 4 p.m. CT. Last weekend, the women fell to Iowa but captured two individual wins by freshman Elizabeth Brown. A native of Ashburton, New Zealand, Brown took home two first-place finishes in the 200 and 100 butterfly with times of 2:06.27 and 57.14, respectively.

On the boards, Alison Menzies improved her NCAA qualifying mark as she won the three-meter, scoring a career-high 293.18. She also claimed first place in the one-meter with a score of 251.32.

The men will compete against Notre Dame on their home turf in IM West at 12 p.m. The men also fell to Iowa last Friday, but junior Bryan Williams was named Big Ten Swimmer of the Week after posting two individual wins. The junior from Troy, Mich., finished in first place in the 200 butterfly as he clocked in a time 1:49.34. He followed up with another individual title in the 100 butterfly, the same event he swam at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials, recording a time of 48.19 to earn NCAA provisional qualifying marks.

Freshman walk-on Charlie Maurer took home his first career win as a Spartan, claiming first place on the one-meter with a score of 246.29.
