Swimming & Diving Travel to Pittsburgh and Kenyon College
The Spartans will travel to Pittsburgh on Friday, and Gambier, Ohio on Saturday.
EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State swimming and diving will travel to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to compete with Pittsburgh, James Madison and Miami (Fla.) on Friday, Oct. 27. Diving will begin at 4 p.m. and swimming will start at 5 p.m. at Trees Pool.
The following day, Oct. 28, the Spartans will travel to Gambier, Ohio to compete against Kenyon College at 2 p.m. The Kenyon College men are ranked No. 1 and the women are ranked No. 3 in the Division III CSCAA preseason poll.
“We are ready to go on the road again. Friday night should be pretty exciting with three really good opponents. The pool at Pittsburgh is actually the place where I had my first-ever collegiate meet 29 years ago, so I am excited about going back there,” head coach Matt Gianiodis said. “Saturday should be pretty cool too. Kenyon is a very good team. I know their coach from his days at Ohio State. Both should be great experiences for our team.”
The women’s team is coming off of a conference win at home against Illinois. The Spartans picked up six first-place finishes in the dual meet, including two first-place finishes from Big Ten Diver of the Week Morgan Wellenzohn. Both Wellenzohn and Erin Neely qualified for NCAA Regionals with their scores in the 3-meter dive.
The men’s team is ready to get back in the water after having two weeks off since their last meet with nationally-ranked Notre Dame (No. 17) and Texas A&M (No. 15) on Friday, Oct. 13.
Results from Friday’s and Saturday’s meets will be available at msuspartans.com following the conclusion of the contest.
