EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State swimming and diving sophomore Alison Menzies was named Big Ten Diver of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday, Nov. 13.
The Winston Salem, N.C., native placed first in the 1-meter (283.80) and 3-meter (300.45) diving events against Grand Valley State last weekend. Both were career-high scores in each event and were NCAA Zone Diving qualifying marks.
Menzies earns the second Diver of the Week and third weekly award of her career. She picked up both Diver and Freshman of the Week honors from the conference on Dec. 13, 2011 after posting personal bests in both the 3-meter (275.77) and third in the 1-meter (246.37) against BSU.
The swimming and diving team will travel to Cleveland State University this coming weekend for the three-day Viking College Invitational. The meet begins on Friday, Nov. 16 with prelims slated for 9 a.m. and finals to be held at 5 p.m. each day.
