EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's and women's swimming and diving teams will travel Northwestern University this weekend for the TYR Invitational. The three-day event will take place Friday through Sunday (Nov. 20-22). Prelims on Friday and Saturday will begin at 11 a.m. ET while the finals will take place at 6 p.m. ET. On Sunday, the prelims will begin at 10 a.m. ET with the finals at 4 p.m. ET.
Competing on the men's side, in addition to MSU and Northwestern, will be Michigan, UIC, Cleveland State and Division III power Kenyon. Iowa State, Cleveland State, UIC and Kenyon will join Michigan State and Northwestern in the women's events.
"I hope we do as well this year as we did last year," said MSU head coach Matt Gianiodis. "I think we can, we've prepared well. The team is healthy now so we feel good going into the weekend. We haven't had a lot of high level meets yet this year so we are looking forward to this weekend."
Last season at the TYR Invite, the Spartans set 12 of the year's fastest times at the event, including Stephanie Fisher (50 freestyle and 100 backstroke) and Becca Ebner (50 and 100 butterfly) who each posted their two fastest swims of the year.
