Michigan State track & field closed out the weekend strong on Saturday at the Jesse Owens Track Classic in Columbus, Ohio. The Spartans added depth in preparation for the conference meet, notching two event wins and showing progress with seven personal-best performances.
Posting three individual wins and 10 personal records, the Michigan State track & field team kicked off the weekend with a bang on Friday. The Spartans had a breakout day with seven personal bests at the Jesse Owens Track Classic at Ohio State, while the MSU women also posted three personal bests at the Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton.
The Michigan State track & field team will continue its split competition this weekend as the Spartans set out for meets around the nation. MSU will be represented in the triple jump at the Mt. SAC Relays, in the distance events at the Larry Ellis Invitational as well as at the Jesse Owens Track Classic.

The Spartans showed progress on Friday as members of the MSU track & field team opened up weekend competition at the 2014 Tennessee Relays in Knoxville, Tenn. Vincens Gjokaj (discus) and Codi Mattix (pole vault) each earned individual event wins to kick off the weekend strong for Michigan State.
