ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Michigan State track & field team opened action at the Len Paddock Invitational hosted by the University of Michigan on Friday, May 6. Sophomore Beth Rohl led the Green and White as she placed first in the women's hammer throw with a winning toss of 58.14m.

Joining Rohl in the event was juniors Robyn Whalen and Bella Galvez. Whalen finished seventh (49.16m) while Galvez was 11th (44.79m).

In the men's hammer throw, MSU track & field throws coach John Newell placed tops with a throw of 62.37m. In second was senior Anthony Agrusa with his toss of 58.23m.

Junior James Nixon finished tied for sixth in the pole vault with a height of 4.70m.

Freshman Amanda Impellizerri finished fourth overall in the women's pole vault as she posted a height of 3.65m.

In the women's javelin, sophomore Theresa O'Leary posted a distance of 31.02m, good enough for fifth overall.

Action continues tomorrow (May 7) at the Len Paddock Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich., for the Spartans.
