RESULTS

JACKSONSVILLE, FL.  - The Spartans concluded their final day of preliminary action at the NCAA East Regionals with two additional athletes qualifying for the NCAA Championships at Drake University.

Redshirt sophomore Zack Hill will be making his second trip to the NCAA Championships after placing seventh in the Men's Shot Put by posting a season-best mark of 18.87 meters (61-11) on his third attempt.  Hill threw 18.46 on this first attempt and fouled his second attempt before solidifying his spot within the top twelve.

Beth Rohl continued to build on her legacy as the school's best thrower by earning her second qualification of the weekend, this time in the Women's Hammer Throw.  Rohl, who qualified yesterday in the discus, was in second place in the event until her third attempt of the day - a mark of 60.41 meters (198-2) - put her in third place.

Rohl was able to stay within the top twelve after fouling two of her last three throws.

Freshman Tori Franklin will make her second trip to the NCAA Championships  - her first coming during the indoor season - by placing tenth today in the Women's Triple Jump.  Franklin was nearly out of contention before hitting a jump of 13.02 meters on her final attempt.   

Just missing a top-twelve qualifying spot in the Women's 5000 Meters was redshirt freshman Sara Kroll, who placed fourteenth overall in the event with a time of 16:38.47.  Kroll raced in the first heat of the evening and placed sixth, but needed to finish within the top five of her heat in order to be given a guaranteed advancement to the championships.
