EAST LANSING, MICH. - Michigan State will be hosting the annual Spartan Invitational, held at the Ralph Young Track & Field complex beginning at 2:00pm on Friday. The meet is the only home meet for the Spartans this season. Friday competition begins with the hammer throw, while Saturday competition is set to begin at 10:30am with the discus.

Women 800: Sections 4 and 5 will be in the morning.

Last Week at the Raleigh Relays...
Sara Kroll, Rachel McFarlane, Carlie Green, and Leah O'Connor claimed first place and set a new school record with a time of 18:27.05 in the 4x1500 meter relay. The previous outdoor record was 18:51.87, which was set in 1997.
Michigan State also found success in the women's 4x400 and the men's 4x1500. The women's team of Alysson Bodenbach, Amelia Bannister, Alicia Evans, and Jaelynn Pryor placed third with a time of 3:42.42. The men's 4x1500 distance relay team consisting of Ben Miller, David Madrigal, Alex Wilson, and Josh McAlary also placed third with a combined time of 15:46.64.
The Spartans also had several individual wins on the weekend. Jaelynn Pryor won the women's 400 meter hurdles, Amanda Impellizzeri was the winner in the women's pole vault (3.85m / 12-07 ½), and Beth Rohl won the hammer throw with an effort of 57.16m (187-06). Lonnie Pugh also won the hammer throw with a distance of 57.88m (189-11).
Zack Hill claimed first place in the men's shot put at 18.48m (60-07 ¾). Cliff Miller tied for first-place and tied a personal best in the pole vault at 4.95m (16-02 ¾) and Becca Buchholtz tied two other competitors for first place in the high jump (1.75m /5-08 ¾).

Six members of the Michigan State track & field team earned All-America honors following their performances at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Nampa, Idaho, as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Beth Rohl (weight throw) and Tori Franklin (triple jump) earned first team All-America honors for the Michigan State women.
First team honors on the men's side went to Zack Hill (shot put) and Lonnie Pugh (weight throw). Fifth-year Senior Jay Gillespie (weight throw) earned second team All-America honors.
Honorable Mention honors went to Senior Becca Buchholtz (high jump).
Big Ten Medalists...
Senior Becca Buchholtz claimed her fourth-career gold medal in the high jump. Buchholtz is Michigan State's record holder in the high jump, passing the six-foot mark earlier this year at the Notre Dame Invitational in January.
Beth Rohl earned a bronze in women's weight throw. Rohl has three career indoor medals, including a Big Ten title in 2009 and a second-place finish in 2011. Newcomer Brittany Lewis won the silver in the women's 600-meter finals, shattering the school-record and her own Canadian Junior Women's record in the process. Sophomore Ashley Stacey earned her second career medal with a bronze in the women's long jump finals while freshman Tori Franklin earned her first career medal with a silver in the triple jump.
The lone medal winner for the men was Redshirt Sophomore Zack Hill who won the bronze in the shot put. Hill placed second in the same event at the Big Ten Indoor Championships last season.
