Men's Track Prepare for Drake Relays

Going To See The Drake: After splitting its squad last weekend, the Michigan State men's track and field team will reunite at the 1998 Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa. The event will take place Friday-Saturday, April 24-25.
Home and Away: Last week, the MSU team hosted the Spartan Invitational at the Ralph Young Track, and it also sent some members to the Mount San Antonio Relays in Walnut, Calif.
In the action across the country, the Spartans were lead by junior All-American Jim Jurcevich who won the 10,000-meter run with a time of 29:12.49. Sophomore Steve Schell took seventh in the event finishing in 29:31.32. Both times were NCAA provisional qualifying marks. In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, junior Chris Wehrman took seventh with a time of 8:51.6. The time was his finest of the season, and it was also a NCAA provisional mark. Sophomore Ryan Taylor rounds out the harriers that traveled to California. He finished ninth in the 5,000-meter with a NCAA provisional time of 14:09.22.
The Michigan State Invitational was highlighted by: sophomore E.J. Martin's sixth place finish in the 400-meter in 49.17, senior Eric Eichinger's and freshman Matt Ingram's fourth and sixth place finishes, respectively, in the 800-meter, freshman Keith Sudheimer's third place finish in the high jump with a leap of 6'6", and sophomore Okoineme Giwa-Agbomeirele's victory in the long jump.
