DEXTER, Mich. - The Michigan State cross country team concluded action at the EMU Open on Friday, Oct. 23. Leading the women with her 10th-place finish was senior Leah Elenbaas, finishing the 5k with a time of 19:02. Sophomore Aaron Winter paced the men in the 5k with his time of 16:03.

Finishing second for the Spartans, with her time of 19:03, was junior Jennifer Yee. Redshirt senior Diane Hamilton turned in the third-best time for MSU, crossing the line in 19:09.

Following Winter with a time of 16:18 was sophomore Mike Katsefaras. Junior Stephen Humes finished one-second behind Katsefares with his time of 16:19.

The Spartans begin the championship season next weekend with the Big Ten Championships on Sunday, Nov. 1, hosted by Penn State. Races are scheduled to begin at 10:45 a.m.
