Spartans In :60 - Carlyn Arteaga

Spartans In :60 is a new series from Michigan State athletics designed to tell the stories of our student-athletes and what shapes them, not only as competitors, but also as students and members of the MSU community.

Carlyn Arteaga is a redshirt-sophomore on the cross country and track & field team from Grand Haven, Michigan. Arteaga ran a career best 6K at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational this season on Oct. 13, crossing the line at 21:32.4. Arteaga also broke her 800m record with a time or 2:10.66 at the Meyo Invitational on Feb. 2-3, and was a member of the fourth-place distance medley relay team at Big Ten Indoor Track & Field Championships, running a season-best overall time of 11:16.82. Arteaga is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, and is majoring in social relations and policy.
