Cross Country Now Accepting 2010 Spartan Invitational Entries

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Entries are now being accepted for the 30th Annual Spartan Cross Country Invitational to be held on Friday, Sept. 17, at 1 p.m. ET on the campus of Michigan State University. Racing will begin with the college women's 6k, followed by the college men's 8k at Forest Akers East Golf Course.
Last year, MSU welcomed 16 collegiate women's teams and 14 collegiate men's team, as well as over 3,500 runners in the high school and middle school divisions. Senior Emily MacLeod finished first for the Spartans, as well as first overall in the collegiate women's 6k race with a time of 21:07. Josh Karanja took first place in the men's collegiate race running unattached for Eastern Michigan (24:31). Senior Patrick Grosskopf was the top finisher for the Spartans with a time of 24:53.
In the elite division, Michael Atchoo of Troy placed first for the boys (15:38), while Megan Goethals of Rochester was tops on the girls side (17:22). Ian Hancke of Haslett (16:09) and Allison White of Herbert Henry Dow (19:05) were the top finishers in the boys and girls green division, respectively. Stuart Crowell of Parchment (16:29) and Amaya Ayers of Laingsburg (19:22) finished atop the white division.
In the JV races, Mark Bower of Strongsville (17:25) was the top boys finisher, while Lindsey Miller of Troy (20:51) was first in the girls heat.
Jareb Duggan of Hartland Middle School and Natalie Noble of Shepherd Middle School were the top middle school racers, finishing first in the boys (11:14) and girls (12:26) heats, respectively.
