EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State cross country redshirt junior Emily MacLeod (Loveland, Ohio) was named Big Ten Female Runner of the Week, as announced by the conference office today. MacLeod, in her first meet of the season, ran away from the competition on Friday at the Spartan Invitational, finishing the 6,000-meter course with a time 21:07, 12 seconds ahead of the next runner. This marks the first honor for MacLeod in her career.

This is the first Spartan laurel for the women since Oct. 21, 2008, when Nicole Bush was honored by the conference.

MacLeod and the Spartans return to action on Saturday, Sept. 26, when they travel to Minneapolis, Minn. for the Griak Invitational. The men begin action at 1:10 p.m., while the women follow at 1:55 p.m.
