A.J. Achter Named To Cape Cod League All-Star Team

Michigan State right-handed pitcher A.J. Achter has been selected to the Cape Cod League All-Star Team. Achter, who is currently fifth in the league with a 1.00 ERA, will represent the West Division in the annual Cape Cod League All-Star Game on Wednesday, July 28 at Fenway Park. The game will be televised live on CBS College Sports beginning at 7 p.m.

Graham Sikes Hired As Assistant Baseball Coach

Michigan State head baseball coach Jake Boss has announced the hiring of Graham Sikes as assistant coach. Sikes has spent the past three seasons as the volunteer assistant coach at Notre Dame and has also coached at James Madison, Young Harris (Ga.) College and Nicholls State. Sikes has coached 28 players who have been selected in the MLB Draft.

Baseball Summer League Update

Several Michigan State baseball players are having success in various collegiate summer leagues across the country. Jeff Holm, Torsten Boss and Ryan Jones each earned all-star selections, while A.J. Achter is among the ERA leaders in the Cape Cod League.

Baseball Signs Justin Scanlon To National Letter of Intent

Michigan State baseball head coach Jake Boss has announced the signing of Justin Scanlon (Verona, Wis.) to a National Letter of Intent. In 2010, he hit .392 for Madison College as the Wolfpack went 44-15 and advanced to the NJCAA Division II Junior College World Series.
