The Michigan State baseball team scored five runs to rally from a 7-0 deficit, but could not come all the way back and fell to Central Michigan, 7-5, on Wednesday afternoon in Mt. Pleasant. MSU is now 20-14 on the season, while the Chippewas improved to 23-14.
Michigan State will bring its 10-game homestand to a close on Tuesday when it hosts Notre Dame at 3:05 p.m. On Wednesday, the Spartans will travel to Central Michigan to take on the Chippewas for the second time in eight days.
Michigan State pitcher Cam Vieaux has been named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week, it was announced by the conference office on Monday, April 14. The award is the second of the season for Vieaux, who also garnered the accolade on March 31.
The Michigan State baseball team won a pair of one-run games, 7-6 and 2-1, to sweep a doubleheader from Purdue on Saturday afternoon at McLane Baseball Stadium. With the victories, MSU took two of three games from the Boilermakers on the weekend, improving to 20-13 overall and 5-4 in the Big Ten.
