Record Crowd Attends 2012 First Pitch Dinner

A record crowd of nearly 600 people attended the 2012 Michigan State Baseball First Pitch Dinner Saturday night at the Kellogg Center. The program honored Earl Morrall as the 2012 Spartan Baseball Alumnus of the Year and the event also featured a jersey recognition ceremony for Kirk Gibson.

Earl Morrall: Baseball Alumnus of the Year

Earl Morrall will be the 11th recipient of the Michigan State Baseball Distinguished Alumnus of the Year Award on Saturday night at the program's First Pitch Dinner at the Kellogg Center. Baseball Begins Practice for 2012 Season

The defending Big Ten Champion Michigan State Spartan baseball team conducted its first official practice of the 2012 season Friday afternoon inside the Duffy Daugherty Football Building. MSU will practice for three weeks before taking on No. 11 St. John's on Opening Day Friday, Feb. 17 in Dunedin, Fla., for the Big Ten/Big East Challenge.

Spartan Baseball To Honor Earl Morrall at First Pitch Dinner

The Michigan State baseball program will honor Earl Morrall as its Alumnus of the Year when it hosts the seventh annual First Pitch Dinner on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at the Kellogg Center. In addition to honoring Morrall, there will be a jersey ceremony for former Spartan All-American and current Arizona Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson, who will also be at the event. | Registration Form

Torsten Boss Named Louisville Slugger Preseason All-American

Michigan State junior third baseman Torsten Boss has been named a third-team preseason Louisville Slugger All-American as selected by Collegiate Baseball. Boss, an All-Big Ten and All-Mideast Region first-team selection in 2011, helped lead the Spartans to a share of the Big Ten regular-season championship after hitting .370 with seven homers and 59 RBIs.
