2009: Went 3-6 and tied for the team lead with 14 starts ... 57 strikeouts tied for second most on the team while his 81.1 innings pitched were also the second most on the team ... 3.76 ERA was second lowest in the starting rotation ... Picked up his first win of the season in game two of a doubleheader vs. Northwestern (4/4), striking out a season-high eight while giving up four hits in 7.2 innings of work ... Went 5.2 innings, struck out five and earned the win as the Spartans picked up their first victory at Michigan (4/18) since 2004 ... Surrendered just one run in 8.0 innings while striking out five in a 9-1 win over Penn State (5/2) ... Gave up just four home runs on the year ... 34 of his 50 runs surrendered were earned.

2008: Made fourth-most starts on the team (eight)...made three appearances in relief...Pitched 33.2 innings and went 1-3...opponents hit just .224 against him...stuck out a season-high four in three innings vs. UConn (2/24)...gave up just three hits and struck out three in 4.2 innings vs. Northwestern (4/6)...picked up the win vs. Penn State (5/4), throwing 7.1 innings and giving up just one hit.

Personal: Born Aug. 27, 1988...son of Rod and Cindy Achter...has a brother, Austin, and a sister, major...lists his father as his greatest baseball influence...played three years of summer baseball with the Toledo Hitmen, helping the team win the 2005 CABA World Series...threw two no-hitters in the summer of 2006 and never lost a game on the mound in summer baseball...pitched for the Lake Erie Monarchs of the Great Lakes Collegiate Summer League in 2008.
