Selected by the Seattle Mariners in the 34th round (1,030 overall pick) in the 2002 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft...team co-captain is slated to start at catcher...named a third-team preseason All-American by Louisville Slugger, as selected by Collegiate Baseball newspaper.

2002: Although he only played in 28 games, Burrill still managed to put up impressive numbers, leading the team with a .414 batting average...five games into the season, he was sidelined with mononucleosis, forcing him to miss nine games. He returned to the lineup in late March, but he broke a bone in his right hand April 19 vs. Michigan...collected 41 hits, 32 runs, 24 RBI, 11 doubles and five homers in just 99 at-bats...notched only one error in 192 attempts, good for a .995 fielding percentage...amassed a .492 on -base percentage and .677 slugging percentage...exploded on opening day, going 4-for-4 with two homers, four runs and five RBI vs. UC Santa Barbara (2/22)...named Big Ten Player of the Week Feb. 25...had 12 multi-hit games...went 2-for-2 with three runs and three RBI vs. Minnesota (3/30)...collected three RBI, two runs and a homer vs. Indiana (4/14).
