Scouting Clausen: Two-way player who will compete for a spot as a situational left-handed a pitcher, throws a good fastball with good an outfielder, has excellent speed and ability to run down balls in the gap.

2007 Season: Appeared in nine games as an outfielder and made nine bullpen appearances...lone hit was an RBI double vs. Quinnipiac (3/11)...scored a run at Bowling Green (3/28)...pitched 6.0 innings of relief, posting a 4.50 ERA and four strikeouts...worked 1.1 innings to get the win vs. Western Michigan (4/10)...hurled a perfect ninth inning against Penn State (4/16)...worked a perfect eighth inning and had a strikeout at Ohio State (5/4)...threw a sco reless frame on back-to-back days vs. Northwestern (5/11-12), getting credit for a save in MSU's 7-4 win on May 12.

2006 Season: Played in 21 games, including 11 starts in the outfield and one at DH...collected 10 hits and scored eight runs...hit a career-high three doubles at Ohio (3/18)......collected a hit, a stolen base, two walks and two runs against Indiana (4/1)...hit a triple and scored twice vs. Western Michigan (4/12)...pitched two innings against Minnesota (4/22) in his only appearance on the mound.

2005 Season: Took the field 42 times, starting in 34 games...batted .299, leading the Spartans with three triples...placed fifth on the team with 23 RBI...hit 3-for-6 with four RBI vs. Brown (3/6)...hit his first collegiate home run in the second inning against Campbell (3/8), then belted out his first career grand slam in the sixth inning, going 2-for-3 with five RBI...hit 2-for-3 on three other occasions...went 1-for-1 with a triple against Indiana, also pitching a career-high 2.0 innings against the Hoosiers (4/7)...appeared on the mound a total of four times.

High School: Batted .428 with 10 home runs and 26 RBI in 2004...compiled a 10-1 pitching record with a 0.75 ERA as a senior...ranked fourth in state history with 15 career shutouts...pitched and played in the outfield for Jenison...led team to the 2004 MHSAA Division I state championship game...three-time all-conference and all-area honoree...garnered all-state Dream Team honors...three-year letterwinner...served as team captain in baseball and football in junior and senior seasons...also lettered in football and basketball.
