Scouting Doherty: Tenacious player on both offense and defense...could see action at all infield positions...offensively, he is a scrappy hitter who has the ability to put pressure on the defense...defensively, he has a very good groundball approach with solid arm strength.

2007 Season: Started 44 games in the middle infield in his first season at MSU...batted .310 with 11 extra-base hits, 28 runs and 26 RBI...led the team with 11 sacrifice hits and ranked second by getting hit by a pitch nine times...on defense, led the team with 146 assists...went 2-for-4 and scored a run vs. Auburn (2/24)...had three hits, three RBI and walked twice vs. St. Joseph's (3/4)...had career-high five hits, including a triple, against Pittsburgh (3/5)...posted 3-for-4 day with two runs in the second game of a doubleheader at Indiana (3/31)...collected three hits vs. Penn State (4/15)...went 2-for-4 with a doubles and two RBI at Minnesota (4/21)...scored a pair of runs and drove in another in the first game of MSU's four-game series against Michigan (4/27)...finished the series by going 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI (4/29)...had two hits, scored a run and drove in a run at Ohio State (5/6)...had two hits at UIC (5/9)...went 3-for-3, including a double, scored a run and drove in a run vs. Northwestern (5/12)...had 10 hits in season-ending four-game series at Illinois (5/18-20)...went 2-for-4 with two RBI at Illinois (5/18)...had four hits, including a home run, scored four runs and drove in three on 5/19...went 3-for-5 with a homer in season finale (5/20).

Hutchinson Community College (2005, 2006): Played for two years under Coach Kyle won back-to-back conference championships and qualified for the Junior College World Series in 2005...hit .262, scored 43 runs and drove in 30 in went 44-13 in 2006...second on the team with 22 stolen bases and had a .495 on-base percentage in 2006...batted .273, drove in 20 and scored 43 runs...holds single-season (23) and career (37) school records for getting hit by pitch.

High School: Lettered two years under Coach Jim DeGraw at Rockhurst High School in Parkville, Mo...led his team to a 28-3 record and second-place state finish his senior year...set hit by pitch single-season school record (12).

Personal: Born Sept. 23, 1985...parents are Dennis Doherty and Tina Williams...communications major...favorite athlete is David Eckstein...names father and Dave Bingham as his biggest baseball influences...played for the Petersburg Generals in the Coastal Plain League in 2007.
