Oliver Wolcott on Gerbe: "Explosive arm with multiple nasty pitches... can shut a team down and close games out regularly... incessant worker... incredibly athletic, makes plays off the mound that most pitchers wouldn't dare attempt."

Scouting Gerbe: Had a solid fall season... throws in the 90-to-93 mph range... worked on slider in the off-season... will battle for the closing position, but could be used as a starter.

2004: Started 10 games on the mound as a sophomore... posted a 2-4 record with a 7.36 ERA in 51.1 innings pitched... finished fifth on the team in strikeouts with 31... tallied a career-best eight strikeouts in a 6-3, complete-game victory over Iowa (4/3)... scattered six hits and struck out four in 5.2 innings against Florida State (3/14)... recorded six strikeouts against Butler (3/7).

2003: Made the team as a walk-on in the fall... emerged as the No. 3 starter on the Spartan staff... posted a 3-2 mark with 21 strikeouts in 55 innings of work... earned his first career win at Indiana (4/13)... earned his first complete-game victory at Illinois (5/3)... recorded a then career-high five strikeouts against Iowa (4/27)... posted four strikeouts at Jacksonville (3/5).

High School: Two-year letterwinner... posted a 6-2 record on the mound with 1.20 ERA, including a league ERA of 0.63, en route to earning all-conference, all-district, all-county and team MVP honors his senior season... earned the all-conference academic award his junior year... also lettered in hockey.
