Scouting Heitshusen: A solid right-handed pitcher with the ability to locate multiple pitches for strikes...will compete for a spot in MSU's starting rotation in addition to being used as a relief pitcher...as a position player, possesses above-average power at the plate and provides depth in the outfield, infield or at the DH spot.

Hutchinson Community College: Played one season at Hutchinson for coach Kyle Crookes...hit .303 with four home runs and 24 RBI....went 3-3 on the mound and struck out 31 in 37.1 innings...allowed just 10 walks...started at multiple positions and led the team to 30 wins.

High School: Named first team all-state and all-conference as a senior in 2006...led Lawrence Free State to the 2006 6A Kansas State Championship...batted .429 with six home runs and 23 RBI while also posting a 1.80 ERA over 35 innings as a senior...had 34 strikeouts and just four walks...also lettered twice in basketball.

Personal: Born Nov. 16, 1987...son of John and Laura Heitshusen...has a brother, Todd, and sisters Holly and Ashley...communications major...played for the Madison Mallards summer baseball team in 2007, recording a 5-5 record with 40 strikeouts and just 18 walks...will return to the team in 2008.
