Former Michigan State pitcher Stuart Hirschman will serve as a volunteer assistant coach in 2003.
Hirschman graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1994. He then went on to work for the Accenture Co. in Chicago for many years before coming back to school for his graduate work. Hirschman is currently pursuing a master?s degree from the MSU school of business.
The four-year letterman played baseball at MSU from 1990-93 and is the all-time winningest pitcher in Spartan history with 28 wins. Hirschman, a 1992 second-team All-Big Ten selection, went 10-3 and tossed eight complete games his junior season. He is second all-time at MSU with 267.1 innings pitched in his career.
Hirschman is engaged to former Michigan State swimmer Mindy Arbaugh. His brother, Steve, also played baseball at Michigan State and is fifth on the all-time saves chart at MSU.
