Scouting Kunkel: Made the team as a walk-on in the fall for the second year in a row...possesses solid defensive skills, including a strong throwing arm...will provide valuable depth at the catching position.

2007: Appeared in one game, batting once against St. Joseph's (3/4)...scored a run in the ninth inning to fuel a late rally against the Lansing Lugnuts in the Crosstown Showdown (4/3).


2006: Played in three games...picked up one at-bat and three putouts vs. Toledo (4/26)...also saw action against Lehigh (3/6) and Grand Valley State (4/26).

2005: Attended Kalamazoo Valley Community College, lettering in baseball.

High School: Earned three letters at Gull Lake High School...garnered second-team all-conference honors in 2003 and first team honors in 2004...also was selected to the all-district team in 2004...led his team to the state semifinals and an overall state ranking of fifth his senior year...served as captain his junior and senior seasons...holds Gull Lake's all-time school record for most putouts.
