Career Stats

Scouting Sorensen: Right-hander who is coming off medical redshirt year..showed flashes of greatness in 2007 before being sidelined with soreness in his arm...will compete for a spot in the starting rotation.

2007: Appeared in four games - making one start - before being sidelined for the season with an arm injury...went 1-2 with a 7.59 ERA...struck out nine against just four walks over 10.2 innings of work...threw three hitless innings and struck out four to get the win against Pittsburgh (3/5)...pitched 4.2 innings in lone start of the season at South Florida (3/8).

2006: Threw 61.1 innings, fourth most on the team...tied for third on the team with 15 appearances, including 10 starts...compiled a 3-4 record with a 5.87 ERA and 27 strikeouts...fanned three batters and pitched three innings of scoreless relief in first appearance of the season against Arkansas State (2/25)...strong start at Florida International (3/7), striking out six and only surrendering one run and five hits in seven innings of work...picked up first win of the season vs. Western Illinois (3/26), firing six innings of four-hit ball, including three strikeouts, while allowing just two runs...made seven straight starts in appearances from March 7 to April 14...threw final 1.2 innings in relief effort against Minnesota (4/21), earning the victory after MSU came-from-behind to score three runs in the bottom of the his best outing of the year, he stifled Ohio State with a complete-game victory May 7 in Oldsmobile Park, limiting the Buckeyes to two runs.

2005: Earned a 1-0 record with a 5.52 ERA after appearing in 11 games, starting in five...threw a total of 31.0 innings...recorded a strikeout in every start... did not allow a run in his collegiate debut at Centenary (2/26), scattering three hits while striking out three in 3.0 innings...put together four strikeout performances in 3.0 innings pitched in back-to-back appearances against Wayne State (3/30) and Iowa (4/3)...fanned four vs. Michigan (4/29) in 4.0 innings of work...recorded his first win as a Spartan, throwing 6.0 innings of an 11-0 shutout, surrendering five hits and striking out three at Central Michigan (5/17).

High School: Went 9-1 with a 1.20 ERA and 92 strikeouts in senior season...batted .380 with two home runs...two-year letterwinner at Northville...twice earned all-conference, all-district and all-area Dream Team honors...led team to a No. 19 state ranking as a senior...served as team captain in football and basketball as a senior...named 2004 Northville High School Athlete of the Year... also lettered for two seasons in football and basketball.

Personal: Born Feb. 21, 1986, to Lary and Tricia advertising major...father played 10 seasons of Major League Baseball with Milwaukee, St. Louis, Cleveland, Oakland, Chicago (NL), Montreal and San Francisco...enjoys playing basketball and football...lists father as his biggest baseball influence...favorite team is the Oakland A's, and favorite player is Greg Maddux...led the Columbus All-Americans to the Great Lakes League title in the summer of 2006...named league's Pitcher of the Year after posting a perfect 6-0 record with a 1.71 ERA... rated among the top 10 prospects in the Great Lakes Collegiate League by Baseball America...will pitch for the Madison Mallards in the Northwoods League in the summer of 2007.
