Space Filling Up For 13th Annual MSU Baseball First Pitch Dinner
Event will take place Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018 at the Kellogg Center.
EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Space is filling up for Michigan State baseball’s 13th Annual First Pitch Dinner on Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018 at the Kellogg Center in East Lansing. Tickets are on sale for the event, which will begin at 12 p.m. with a silent auction and player autographs. Dinner and a formal program will follow at 1 p.m.
This year's event will feature Major League Baseball All-Star Frank Tanana as the keynote speaker, while honoring Brian Storm as the Alumnus of the Year.
Tanana had a 21-year MLB career, including playing for the Detroit Tigers from 1985-1992. A native of Novi, Michigan, Tanana was drafted by the California Angels in the 1st round, 13th overall, of the 1971 MLB Draft from Detroit Catholic Central High School. He also played for the California Angels (1973--1980), Boston Red Sox (1981), Texas Rangers (1982--1985), New York Mets (1993) and New York Yankees (1993). Tanana was a three-time All-Star (1976-78). In 1975, he led the MLB in strikeouts (269). In 1977, Tanana led the American League in ERA (2.54) and shutouts (7).
Storm, a native of Sagniaw, is a 1977 alum of MSU and is the President and CEO of Fields-Inc., Sports Fields Inc., and was the driving force for the Kobs Field heating project. Storm's Sports Fields, Inc., is the premier builders of athletic fields and sports complexes in the country. He has done work for the Green Bay Packers, the Dallas Cowboys, the Minnesota Twins and many other NFL, MLB, MLS and other professional sports organizations, as well as many major colleges and universities. He holds a number of patents for field heating and field cooling. Storm's Sports Fields, Inc., also renovated the MSU soccer stadium, DeMartin Stadium, the Spartan softball field, Secchia Stadium, and McLane Stadium at Kobs Field, after the Red Cedar River flooded.
The 2018 MSU Baseball First Pitch Dinner will feature a silent auction, door prizes, player autographs, a team poster and 2018 season ticket card.
Tickets for the First Pitch Dinner range in price from $15 per person for children and students, $25 for college students, $40 for Spartan baseball alumni and $50 each for adults. Sponsored tables of eight are also available.
