EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State baseball has changed its schedule for this week's game vs. in-state foe Central Michigan, due to expected inclement weather in the forecast for Wednesday, and the Spartans and Chippewas will now square off on Tuesday, March 21.
First pitch for MSU's 2017 home opener is slated for 4 p.m. at McLane Stadium at Kobs Field.
The Spartans are 11-5 on the season after going 2-1 at the Richmond Spider Invitational last weekend. MSU beat Campbell on Friday, 3-1, and routed host Richmond, 13-4, on Saturday, before dropping the finale to Cornell, 2-1, on Sunday.
The Chippewas bring an 8-11 mark into Tuesday's match-up with the Spartans. CMU is coming off taking three of four games from Northwestern over the weekend in Evanston, Illinois. The Chippewas won Friday's opener, 5-3, then split Saturday's doubleheader, dropping game one, 5-1, before bouncing back to win the second game by the identical 5-1 score, then winning Sunday's series finale, 7-5.
