EAST LANSING, Mich. - Senior Andrew Waszak was named Big Ten Co-Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced on Monday afternoon.
Waszak tossed eight innings and struck out five to help the Spartans beat No. 12 Indiana, 2-1, in the series opener on Friday, April 12.
He allowed just one run on seven hits with no walks against the Hoosiers. Indiana leads the Big Ten in several offensive categories including: batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, runs, hits and RBIs.
It marks Waszak's second career Big Ten Pitcher of the Week award and first this season. It is the second Big Ten Pitcher of the Week for MSU this season after Chase Rihtarchik was named back on March 25.
Michigan State (21-11, 5-4) returns to action in a midweek contest against Toledo on Tuesday at McLane Stadium at 3:05 p.m.
