EAST LANSING, Mich. - Sophomore Blaise Salter took home his second-career Big Ten Player of the Week honors and senior Andrew Waszak earned his third-career Big Ten Picher of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon.
Salter was hot at the plate all week, starting with an RBI and a 2-for-3 day at Notre Dame. In the weekend series against Purdue, Salter went 7-for-12 with four doubles, one home run and three RBIs.
In the first two games of the series Salter went 3-for-4. He hit three doubles, had a pair of RBIs and a pair of runs scored in the first game.
In game two, Salter homered to deep left-center field for his third of the season. On the weekend, he had a 1.167 slugging percentage.
Waszak hurled his second-career complete game in an 8-1 win over Purdue on Friday. He allowed just seven hits and only one run against the Boilermakers.
It may have been Waszak's most efficient outing. He threw 88 pitches, struck out five and didn't walk anybody.
