Eric Room Named Second Team Academic All-District

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State junior Eric Roof (Paducah, Ky./St. Mary HS) has been named second team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-Disctrict IV in the University Division by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The announcement was made Friday, May 9.

Roof, an accounting major who owns a 3.60 GPA, has started 29 games this season for MSU, batting .305 with three home runs and 28 RBI. The versatile Roof has seen action at catcher, first base, third base and designated hitter this season.

Roof is one of 10 players - and the only player from a Big Ten school - on the University Division District IV second team. To be considered for academic recognition by CoSIDA, players must have a GPA of at least 3.20 and be starters or key reserves on their team.
