Spartan Baseball Announces Top 9 Camp Dates
May 23, 2008
EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State baseball head coach David Grewe and the Spartan program have announced the dates for David Grewe's Top 9 Summer Baseball Camps. There will be a wide variety of camps offered for all ages including the Spartan Elite Specialty Camp, that will allow the camper to live life as a Division I baseball player as a Spartan.
"I am very excited about this summer," coach Grewe said. "Our camp motto is `Learn Now, Play Hard, and most importantly, Have Fun!' Coach (Tom) Lipari will be highly organized in an effort to provide a fun learning environment."
The high school pitching and catching camp will be held on July 14 followed by the high school hitting and fielding camp on July 15. Both camps will hone in on the basic fundamentals and the proper approach not only from the physical part of the game but the mental aspect as well.
The Spartan Elite Specialty Camp, the newest addition of David Grewe's Top 9 Baseball Camps, gives high school juniors and seniors a first hand look at daily life as a Division I baseball player. All campers will wear the official Spartan game uniform and have their own locker in the Spartan baseball clubhouse for this three-day experience. The specialty camp will also include game day meals, housing at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center, on-field batting practice and live competition administered by the entire coaching staff.
For all high school and summer travel team coaches that are looking to develop their team over the summer, the High School Team Camp provides this experience. Coaches can bring their team to Kobs Field for this three-day experience competing against teams around the area as well as the opportunity for the team to work with and receive instruction from the MSU coaching staff and players.
Assistant coach Tom Lipari enters his first summer as camp coordinator and is also excited about the summer offerings.
"It's a privilege and honor to work with today's youth on the fundamentals of the game," coach Lipari said. "My goal is for every camper to walk away with a better knowledge of baseball and the fundamentals that come along with it."
The Junior Spartan Little League Camp will open the Camp season on June 23.
