Michigan State Baseball Facing Notre Dame Saturday In Fall Exhibition
Spartans wrap up fall exhibition action against Fighting Irish.
EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State baseball will host Notre Dame in an exhibition game on Saturday, Sept. 23. First pitch from McLane Baseball Stadium at Kobs Field is slated for 2 p.m., tying in with the MSU vs. Notre Dame football game Saturday night. Admission to Saturday’s baseball action is free.
“We have played Notre Dame in the past in the fall and tied it into the football gameday experience, both in East Lansing and South Bend, and I think both programs thought it was a tremendous atmosphere. There are certainly benefits to playing the game from a team perspective, but to be part of football Saturday on campus is a thrill for both our players and our fans,” MSU head coach Jake Boss Jr. said.
This will be Michigan State’s second and final fall exhibition action, as the Spartans took on the Lansing Lugnuts on Sept. 5 at Cooley Law School Stadium. A crowd of 6,804 was on hand to watch the annual exhibition game and home run derby.
Any Spartan football fans in town are invited to attend Saturday’s action and admission to the baseball game is free. Those that can’t attend can listen to the game on the Spartan Sports Network, which will carry a live audio stream of Saturday’s contest. The baseball broadcast will be available exclusively at SpartanSportsNetwork.com and on the network’s 24/7 app for mobile devices (available on iTunes and Google Play). Broadcast veteran Scott Moore will call the action.
There is still space available for the 2017 Spartan Baseball Golf Outing that will take place Friday, Sept. 29 at Forest Akers West Golf Course. Fans are invited for a day of golf, food and fun, capped off with some baseball, all to support the MSU baseball program. The golf outing, sponsored by the Greenville Drive, will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. The cost to play in the outing is $125 per person or $500 for a foursome and includes both lunch and dinner. Those guests wanting to join for dinner only can do so for $35. There will be longest drive, closest to the pin and skins contests. Hole sponsorship is also available for $200.
Following the golf outing, all guests are invited to McLane Stadium at approximately 3:30 p.m. to watch the 2017-18 Spartan baseball team scrimmage, free of charge.
