MSU Baseball Hosting Several Clinics

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State’s baseball staff will host a number of upcoming camps and clinics throughout the winter.

The first-ever Winter Youth Camp for ages 6-13 years old will take place on Sunday Dec. 3. It will run from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., and will be held in the MSU Duffy Daugherty Building (the indoor football practice facility) as well as the MSU’s Indoor Practice Facility (IPF) at Kobs Field. This will be a comprehensive camp, covering all aspects of the game of baseball including throwing, hitting, fielding, catching, infield, outfield and baserunning. This is a hands-on clinic where players will learn the same drills currently used by the Michigan State baseball program. Along with the MSU coaching staff, several current players will be involved with the instruction and teaching with the campers.

There will be two Advanced Hitting Clinics for players in grades 7-12, and will be held on Saturday Dec. 16 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. and Sunday Dec. 17 from 12 p.m. - 4 p.m. This hitting clinic is for the serious ballplayer and will center on the “5 Foundations of Hitting” as well as covering the components of the “complete hitter.” Included in the clinic will be lecture, drills, live batting practice and video analysis. This is a hands-on clinic where players will learn the same drills currently used by the Michigan State baseball program. The clinic will be held at MSU’s Indoor Practice Facility (IPF) located at Kobs Field.

MSU baseball be hosting its yearly Pro Scout Development Camp, open to all high school players 14-18 years old and all junior college players. The Pro Scout Development Camp will be held on Sunday, Jan. 21 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., and will be held in the MSU Duffy Daugherty Building (the indoor football practice facility) as well as the MSU’s Indoor Practice Facility (IPF) at Kobs Field. The camp will include a pro style workout testing speed, exit velocity, arm strength, etc., giving players the opportunity to showcase their skills and talent in front of the entire MSU coaching staff along with several professional baseball scouts. There will also be several hitting and defensive instructional sessions, as well as pitchers throwing bullpen sessions.
