Nov. 26, 1996 MSU Blows Out ETSU, 83-45Morris Peterson led the way in scoring, but MSU's depth and improvement on defense also had an impact in the win. Peterson went 4-5 from behind the three point line and had 18 points to lead MSU to victory over East Tennessee State on Monday. Peterson, a redshirt freshman, also added 6 rebounds despite only playing 14 minutes. Jason Klein finished the night with 13 points and Thomas Kelley added 10 points. 12 Spartans had at least eight minutes or more of playing time and 11 of them scored. "It was a different opener for us," said Coach Izzo. "I think we did some of the things we talked about doing. We felt we had some depth and we felt we could put some pressure on defensively because of our athletes. I was pleased with the intensity we played with throughout the game."
