Michigan State hosts North Carolina in the 2013 Big Ten/ACC Challenge. This is the fifth meeting between the Spartans and Tar Heels in the 15-year history of the challenge, tying Minnesota-Florida State for the most-played challenge matchup. The two teams last met in East Lansing in Nov. 2000 for the challenge.
Michigan State is ranked No. 1 as it prepares to host a North Carolina team unranked in the AP Top 25. The last time the two teams met it was the Tar Heels at No. 1 and the Spartans were unranked. Despite the role reversal, MSU expects an effort from UNC similar to the one it gave in an upset of No. 3 Louisville.
Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo addressed the media at his weekly press conference on Monday afternoon to preview the upcoming Big Ten-ACC Challenge against North Carolina on Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 9 p.m. in East Lansing.
