Iowa Head Coach Steve Alford
On the game... "This was obviously a tough game for us. I think we blew some opportunities in the first half by not making foul shots and not finishing around the basket. (The travel) is a part of playing in the Big Ten. We came off a tough game and they had a week to prepare, but we had a week before Penn State. I give them credit, they just outplayed us."
On MSU's play... "They are very good at the beginning of both halves, that is their staple. We did a pretty good job of recovering in the first half, but we just never recovered in the second half. They deserve a lot of credit, and today they were very good and we were not good. They are hard to beat in here when they play that way. I think they showed today why they were a top ten team to start the season."
Michigan State Head Coach Tom Izzo
Opening Statement... "If anyone has any question, that was our best game of the year against a very good team. A team who has won 14 games and, on film, is very good. There were many outstanding performances for us today. I don't think I have ever coached a team or ever been a part of a team that had 26 assists on 30 baskets. That made me feel awesome to be a part of that."
On Brown and Ager... "Shannon (Brown) was very unselfish today and Maurice (Ager) came to me at half time and said `I made some good shots in the first half and in the second half I'm going to go out there and put them down.' That to me is a great feeling knowing that the relationship between the coaches and the players is that confident."
"We had a few let downs today, but I'm starting to figure that out. Defense is something that we still need to work on because it will be a critical part of the game in our upcoming games."
